Commitment

Part of running a marathon is making a commitment to preparation. Preparation for the hard road ahead. Literally. I’ve done this before, so I know what I am getting myself into.

Last year, I was part of the AIDS Marathon Training Program. I raised nearly $2000 to help those who are living with this horrible disease. I also trained for six months, and completed two marathons. It was awesome.

Now, I want to do it all over again. Early this week, I registered for the program once more. I will be hitting up all of my friends and family for donations once again (To make a donation, please visit http://www.davenadkarni.org). I will be training once again. Although this training program is for the Los Angeles Marathon, I am still very much committed to running the Arizona Rock N’ Roll Marathon in January. This way, I can complete two marathons in 2008.

This year, in the training program, my cousin, Ashu will join me. He has also made the commitment to raise money and train each week. I hope I can provide him with useful knowledge and support to help him cross that finish line in March.

The training program will be pretty close to what I was already doing. Running lightly during the week, mixed with cross training; and then long runs each weekend with a slight taper towards the end of the program. This is very exciting.

Ok, so one more time…I am training and raising money for my favorite AIDS charity. Please visit http://www.davenadkarni.org to make a donation. It can be as small as $5. It will mean alot to me. Doesn’t matter how much it is. 🙂
